We love the opportunity to perform our magic!   Magic can work wonders at almost every event – whether you’re breaking the ice at a corporate party, keeping the magic alive at a wedding or bringing the wow factor to a fun day! For us, any opportunity to share our love of magic and create an amazing experience for the guests is the perfect event for us, but here we share some of our absolute favourites.    Weddings are our upmost favourite events to perform at: what an amazing happy occasion with everyone in such high spirits – and what an honour for us to be chosen for the couple’s special day to entertain their family and friends! The  difficulties  we have come across in magic and how we overcome them   As with many areas in life, magic doesn’t come without  difficulties and challenges along the way. It’s our philosophy however, that it’s not about the mistakes you might make or the problems you face,  but rather how you overcome these, which makes you into the person, and in this case magician, you are and will propel you to succeed. Over our years of learning and performing magic we have faced our fair share of challenges that we would like to share with you to show that it is ok that something doesn’t run as smoothly as planned or hoped, and share our tips to deal with this.   Grasping a trick can be hard. Who inspires our tricks and style?    There are some truly amazing magicians out there, and we love watching different performances by different people to get ideas of style, routines and tricks. Every magician brings a new take and an individual flair to a trick which we love to see! Having been doing magic for since 2017 we have come across many different performers, from the big international names such as Penn & Teller, Eric Chien, Shin Lim and Jay Sankey to friends who we never knew had a  trick  up their sleeve, and this range of influences and experiences has helped us to develop our own style to mould us into the magicians we are today! We love watching films about  magic , and even went to London to see The Magic Hour in 2018 and The Illusionists in 2019 to gain insight into a different performance method.   For us, our biggest inspirations are the tricks that fool us – we love sitting and watching a trick over and over to try to figure out how it is done. P

Who are Northcott & Carney Magic? Both teachers full time, magic is our side-passion, and we get great enjoyment through learning new tricks and sharing these with others to see their reactions! So how did two maths teachers get into magic?!     In 2017 Carney went on a family holiday to Vegas, and there fell in love with magic through the performances and meeting the infamous Penn & Teller. Upon returning to the staff room and sharing the videos of tricks he had seen there, Northcott also caught the magic bug, and we would each try to figure out how to do the various tricks for ourselves! It is one thing watching videos and understanding how to do it, but a whole other thing to be able to  perform  the tricks for yourself, which led to weekly challenges as to who could perform a new trick the best, and working together to critique and develop.
